Happy New Year and time to Sparkle and Shine

As the title says I wish you a very happy New Year, and thank you you for visiting my blog today as I share a card I made for the new theme over at Country View Crafts which is Your Year to Sparkle and Shine.

As always follow the guides closely, otherwise you will not be entered into the draw. So here is my card

So lets jump into how. As many of you know I love to draw, so I drew out these flower designs in Procreate

Wouldn’t these make great floral stamps is what went through my mind as I transferred them to Cricut Design Space to see how I could use them. I know I could have got my Maker to draw them and then cut them out but as I haven’t found a pen which is waterproof yet i decided against that. Thats when it hit me, use the foil option onto Water colour card. So I dug out my foil, got my mat ready with the watercolour card and stuck down my foil. I set up the Maker to draw using foil and set it off.

As you can see I had to use a patchwork of foil as I have no large sheets, I know they are on my shopping list now, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it worked. To save time I set the design to make a 5×7 card, I wanted to use some new watercolours to paint it and knew it would take too long (as in I have very little energy, as I haven’t been well for most of the Christmas break.) but I think these designs would look fabulous if they were larger and painted outside the lines to give a soft lose floral look. Sorry I digress!

Once the Maker was finished I was so excited to see how it turned out and was very pleased. I can see there were a few tiny misses which was due to user error but overall it was good.

Next I cut the design to size and matted it onto glittered card. I then pulled out my sparkly water colours and loosely filled in the design with the pastel colours.

Now I was faced with the problem that all the glitter was getting everywhere and as the background was black it was showing every bit but I guess that just added to the shine.

Anyway, lets have a last look

I hope I have inspired you to play along, stay safe and well, and ill be back soon.

Hugs
